Holiday Updates

Here is a look at everything going on at Surprise Christian Church for the holidays!

Announcements

Family to Family Food Boxes – Pick up your boxes on Sunday! Drop off’s start on Dec. 4th (At the Church)

Family to family is an amazing opportunity for us to serve those in need in our community. We are partnering with Dysart Community Center to help meet the needs of people in the Surprise, El Mirage area. As many of us know, with high inflation, many people are struggling to feed their families. The goal of family to family is for families in our church to bless families in our community with food for the Christmas season. Please join us in serving our community by grabbing a box this Sunday! The lists for the items need will be available on Sunday or you can find them at surprise.church/fam2fam.

Women’s Craft Night – Wednesday, December 7th, 6:30PM. (At the Church)

The women of our church are getting together to continue for a craft night! This is a great opportunity to form relationships with other women in the church. The craft night will be a potluck. (bring some holiday treats that you like to make!) The cost is $8-$10 per person, depending on the cost of material. We could use some help with set up, tear down. If this is something your interesting, there will be sign ups available Sunday.

Blood Drive – Sunday, Dec. 11th, 9AM-1PM. (At the Church)

We are doing a blood drive at the church Sunday, December 11th! There are not many opportunities in life for us to actively participate in something that could save lives! Giving blood is a simple but essential act of giving that we can do to help bless our neighbors. I encourage you to come out to the church Dec. 11th to give blood.

Annual Christmas Light Scavenger Hunt – Friday, Dec. 16th , starting at 6PM. (At the Church)

We are having our annual Christmas Light Scavenger hunt on Friday December 16th! This a great family activity where you will go on the lookout in a Christmas themed scavenger hunt. You will drive to volunteer houses who have put up their Christmas decorations, checking off the ones you find on the hunt. Each house will have some kind of “treat” for the family. If you would like to volunteer your house, please get in contact with bryan.brown@surprise.church ! We would love to see you on Friday the 16th!

Annual Ugly Sweater Party (Youth Only) – Saturday, Dec. 17th, 5PM-7PM (At the Church)

We have our annual youth Ugly Sweater Party coming up! This a great night of games, food, and fun, where the students are encouraged to dress up in their ugliest sweater! We give out our yearly “sweaty” awards and crown a king or queen “sweaty” for the best sweater! If you have students in our church, you don’t want to miss this party!

Christmas Eve Services – Saturday, Dec. 24th, 4:30PM and 6:00PM. (At the Church)

It’s Christmas Eve! We will be having two candlelight services at 4:30 and 6:00 to celebrate! There will not be service on the Sunday following (Christmas Day). We hope you spend that time your family and friends celebrating the birth our Lord! The service will be all about the “seed” promised in Genesis 3:15! The story of the Bible is wrapped around the hope and expectation of a “seed” who would finally free man from the clutch of the serpent, crushing his head. What’s with the little bit about striking his heel? We will find out together as we unfold the powerful story of the “seed” that was promised through Scripture.

New Year’s Day Service – Sunday, January 1st, 10:00AM. (At the Church)

We are going to celebrate on New Year’s Day by bringing the whole church together for one service! Make sure to put on your calendar that we will only be having service at 10 that day.

State of the Church Weekend – Sunday, January 8th, Normal service times. (At the Church)

We will be having our annual state of the church weekend January 8th! We will do a recap of the last year and lay out the vision for the church going into 2023 and beyond. We hope to see you there!
